Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses the lasting impact of painful past experiences that continue to affect your present life and relationships. Using specialized approaches like EMDR therapy, our therapists help you process traumatic memories safely, reducing their emotional charge and allowing your nervous system to find balance again. We understand that trauma can manifest in relationship difficulties, anxiety, trust issues, and disconnection from yourself and others. Our approach helps you move beyond survival mode into a life where you can feel fully present, connected, and at peace with your experiences.

  • Recognize and calm your body's trauma responses in triggering situations

  • Rebuild your sense of safety in relationships and the world around you

  • Process difficult memories without becoming overwhelmed or retraumatized

  • Learn to love all parts of yourself

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy helps partners strengthen their connection, improve communication, and navigate relationship challenges together. Identify recurring patterns that create distance and conflict, and move toward more secure and fulfilling ways of relating. Whether you're experiencing communication breakdowns, trust issues, emotional disconnection, or wanting to deepen your bond, we provide a balanced space where both partners feel heard and understood.

  • Break free from destructive argument cycles that leave both partners feeling unheard

  • Rebuild trust and security after betrayals or relationship injuries

  • Learn to communicate difficult emotions in ways your partner can truly hear

  • Rediscover joy and playfulness in your relationship while honoring each other's needs

  • Active addiction is a contraindication for couples therapy because substance use can significantly impair judgment, emotional regulation, and accountability—key elements needed for productive relational work. Until the addiction is stabilized, therapy risks reinforcing unhealthy patterns or becoming focused on crisis management rather than meaningful growth and change.

  • If there is physical violence, threats, or fear of retaliation, couples therapy is not recommended, as it can increase risk for the victim. Individual therapy and safety planning are better first steps.

  • Emotional abuse can be subtle and often includes manipulation, gaslighting, constant criticism, or controlling behavior that makes you feel unsafe, anxious, or doubting yourself. If you’re unsure, speak with a therapist or reach out to a support organization to help you assess your situation.

  • If your partner dismisses or denies abusive behaviors, it may not be safe or productive to pursue couples therapy together. Prioritizing your own emotional and physical safety is key. Consider seeking individual therapy, trusted support systems, or advocacy groups like Love Is Respect (loveisrespect.org) for guidance.

Is Couples Therapy Safe And Right For My Relationship?

Couples therapy can be a powerful tool for healing and connection, but it’s natural to wonder if it’s the right step for you. Therapy is a safe space when both partners are willing to engage with honesty, openness, and respect. However, if there is ongoing addiction, abuse or fear of retaliation, individual support may be a safer first step.
